Filter Diagonalization with Finite Fourier Transform Eigenfunctions

Below, we briefly report on the progress in the development of the Filter Diagonalization technique when filtering is carried out with the aid of Finite Fourier Transform (FFT) eigenfunctions. During recent years interest in these functions, also known as ‘prolates’, or ‘slepians’, has increased among scientists doing research in the field of signal processing. The main explanation to this follows from the set of very special extremal and orthogonality properties exibited by the FFT eigenfunctions. Recent results of Walter and Shen on sampling with prolate spheroidal functions will necessary produce a new wave of interest. In the presented, Filter diagonalization machinery, we show that the sampling formula of Walter and Shen simplifies essentially the computation of matrix elements as certain 2D–integrals involving FFT eigenfunctions.     

Effect of method of solution on observed molecular weight distribution of barley starch and starch derivatives in size exclusion chromatography

Summary Samples of native barley starch and six starch derivatives were suspended (0.1% sample concentration) in four different solvents: the eluent (pH 11 buffer), dimethylsulfoxide, 0.1 M NaOH or 0.5 M NaOH and kept in a boilling water bath for 5 to 60 minutes or shaken for 60 minutes. The average molecular weight values , and the polydispersity value were determined with a TSK PW-type column using narrow standard calibration. Only a small part of the samples dissolved in the eluent. The dissolution of sample in dimethylsulfoxide was dependent on sample type. Of the NaOH solutions, 0.5 M NaOH was the only one that dissolved all the samples. Therefore, 0.5 M NaOH appears to be the solvent of choice for starch molecules.     

Gel permeation chromatographic characterization of sodium hyaluronate and its fractions prepared by ultrasonic degradation

Summary High-molecular-weight sodium hyaluronate isolated from rooster combs was degraded by ultrasonication. The molecular weight of hyaluronate and its polydispersity was determined by gel-permeation chromatography. During 75-min treatment the molecular weight value decreased from 1.39×10⁶ Da to 2.25×10⁵ Da while the polydispersity of the molecular weight increased from 1.29 to 2.36. The reciprocal value of the square of the hyaluronate's molecular weight was linearly proportional to the time of ultrasonication.     

Size exclusion chromatographic characterization of sodium hyaluronate fractions prepared by high energetic sonication

Summary A high molecular weight sodium hyaluronate isolated from rooster combs was degraded by ultrasonication. High-performance size exclusion chromatography allowed rapid and accurate determination of molecular weight parameters (M_z, M_w, M_n) and distributions. The time dependence of hyaluronan ultrasonication to the molecular characteristics of the polymer was investigated. A non-random nature of the degradation process was demonstrated and the reciprocal M_n value was found to be linearly proportional to the time of ultrasonication.     

PREPARATION OF POLY（METHYL METHACRYLATE）/LAYERED DOUBLE HYDROXIDES NANOCOMPOSITES via in situ SOLUTION POLYMERIZATION

An exfoliated layered double hydroxides/poly(methyl methacrylate)(LDHs/PMMA)nanocomposite was prepared by in situ solution polymerization of methyl methacrylate(MMA)in the presence of 4-vinylbenzenesulfonate intercalated LDHs(MgAl-VBS LDHs).MgAl-VBS LDHs was prepared by the ion exchange method,and the structure and composition of the MgA1-VBS LDHs were determined by X-ray diffraction(XRD),infrared spectroscopy and elemental analysis.XRD and transmission electron microscopy(TEM)were employed to examine the structure of LDHs/PMMA nanocomposite.It was indicated that the LDHs layers were well exfoliated and dispersed in the PMMA matrix.The grafting of PMMA onto LDHs was confirmed by the extraction result and the weight fraction of grafted PMMA increased as the weight fraction of LDHs in the nanocomposites increased.     

聚N—异丙基丙烯酰胺溶液的温度依赖关系

用自由基聚合法合成了聚Ｎ－异丙基丙烯酰胺（ＰＮＩＰＡＡＭ）样品，用乌氏粘度计考查了该聚合物的四氢呋喃（ＴＨＦ）溶液和水溶液的粘度与温度的依赖关系。发现ＰＮＩＰＡＡＭ－ＴＨＦ体系的特性粘数随温度升高而增大，ＰＮＩＰＡＡＭ－Ｈ２Ｏ体系的特性粘数－温度曲线表现出较为复杂的变化规律。并用实验确定的特性粘数对合成样品的分子量进行了表征Ｍｎ＝８．４４×１０＾５ｇ·ｍｏｌ＾－１。     

降冰片烯开环易位聚合反应的分子量及分子量分布控制

使用Grubbs催化剂催化降冰片烯单体进行开环易位聚合反应, 研究了催化剂搅拌溶解时间、聚合反应的溶剂极性和三苯基膦的加入等反应条件对降冰片烯单体ROMP反应分子量及分子量分布的影响, 从而得到降冰片烯ROMP反应的最佳条件.

非线型缩聚物的重均分子量

本文用数学期望方法研究了非线型共缩聚物的重均分子量,并推导出重均分子量表达式,将3种特例的理论曲线与实验结果相比较,两者基本相符。     

KINETIC ANALYSIS OF CO-CONDENSATION POLYMERIZATION OF AB2 AND AB MONOMERS

This work deals with the kinetics of co-condensation polymerization of AB2 and AB monomers, giving expressions of the two-dimensional molecular weight distribution function and the number/weight average molecular weights of the resulting copolymers. The two-dimensional molecular weight distribution depends on two indices, n and l, which are the respective numbers of AB2 and AB units in a copolymer species. The evolution of the two-dimensional weight and z distributions during the co-condensation polymerization has been evaluated systematically. Finally, the two-dimensional distribution was transformed into a one-dimensional molecular weight distribution with only one variable (the molecular weight of the products instead of the degree of polymerization). The calculated results show that the highly branched copolymer has a very broad molecular weight distribution when the co-condensation polymerization approaches completion.
